- What is Korra Vastrra? A boutique clothing label from Mumbai by Arti Kapur. Shirts, kaftans, kurtas and dresses cut from unbleached kora cotton and linen, embroidered by hand and made to order in a home studio. The first collection opened on 4 October 2025.
- What does kora cotton mean? Kora is cotton left as it came off the loom, unbleached and undyed, so the colour is the colour of the fibre. It arrives a little stiff and softens with every wash. The slubs and the uneven weave are the point, and two pieces are never identical.
- How do I order? Choose a piece on the rail, pick a size, add it to the bag and send the order on WhatsApp. Arti confirms it personally with payment details and a delivery date. Pieces are made to order and delivered within India in two to three weeks.
- What sizes do the pieces come in? Many pieces are one size and fit XS to XL because the shape does the work: boxy shirts, kimono and balloon sleeves, kaftans cut wide. Others come in S to XXL in Indian sizing. Write to us if you are between sizes or want a sleeve or length changed.
- Where is the studio and can I visit? The studio is in Mumbai, India. The rail is opened to visitors at exhibitions a few times a year (the last was Exhibition 2.0, 21 to 23 August 2026). Message on WhatsApp or Instagram for the next date and the address.
- Is everything handmade? The embroidery is done by hand, one placket at a time. The block prints are hand printed. Each pattern is cut and sewn in the studio by Prahlad Bhai, who has cut cloth for thirty years. Buttons are coconut shell or wood.
- Do you deliver outside India? Orders on the site are for delivery within India. If you are abroad, write on WhatsApp with your city and we will tell you whether we can send it and what it costs.
- How do I wash kora cotton and linen? Cold hand or gentle machine wash, mild detergent, no bleach. Line dry in shade, iron on medium. Cutwork and embroidered pieces go in a mesh bag and are dried flat. Expect the first wash to soften the cloth; that is the point.
