Boutique clothing designers in Delhi: where the studios are and how to shop them

By Arti Kapur, Korra Vastrra · 3 November 2026 · 763 words

Delhi is the easiest Indian city in which to find boutique clothing designers, because they cluster. One urban village in South Delhi holds more designer studios per lane than anywhere else in the country, a second village next door holds the flagships, a market in Lodhi Colony holds the multi-designer stores, and a permanent bazaar on the Gurgaon side holds the craft groups and exhibition labels. This guide walks the four, with hours, metro stops and what to expect.

We do not name designers or stores; that is a house rule, and the clusters outlast any list. Where we talk about ourselves we say so.

Five things to know
  1. Shahpur Jat is the densest cluster of designer studios in Delhi: a nine-minute walk from Hauz Khas metro on the Yellow Line, most shops open 11am to 7pm, closed on Sundays.
  2. Hauz Khas Village, next door, has the larger flagships and multi-designer stores, including a 6,000 sq ft one; Meherchand Market in Lodhi Colony has multi-designer and lifestyle stores.
  3. The Dastkar Nature Bazaar at Andheria Modh, Chhatarpur, run with Delhi Tourism, hosts themed twelve-day bazaars through the year with a permanent stall line between them; tickets have been ₹50.
  4. Shahpur Jat is where you meet the designer and order to measure; Hauz Khas and Meherchand are where you buy off the rail today; the bazaar is where you see craft cloth at the lowest prices.
  5. Budget ₹3,000 to ₹9,000 for everyday boutique cotton and linen in 2026 and from ₹25,000 for occasion wear; Shahpur Jat is known for both, with bridal the louder trade.

Shahpur Jat: the studios

Shahpur Jat is an urban village inside South Delhi whose lanes filled with designer studios over the last fifteen years because the rents were a fraction of the markets around it. The result is the densest cluster of boutique clothing designers in the country: contemporary ethnic, bridal and trousseau labels on one side, womenswear studios with a single designer and a tailoring unit upstairs on the other. Guides have counted more than twenty worth visiting for wedding shopping alone.

Practicalities: Hauz Khas metro station on the Yellow Line is about a nine-minute walk; most shops open between 11am and 7pm and the market is closed on Sundays. The lanes are narrow and unmarked, so go with an address and a phone number. What the cluster is good for: meeting the designer, ordering to measure, and seeing how a piece is made. What it is less good for: buying today, because many studios cut to order.

Hauz Khas Village: the flagships

Next door, Hauz Khas Village has the bigger rooms. A multi-designer store here runs to 6,000 sq ft of clothing, jewellery and accessories, a bridal couture house works from the village, and a boutique in a modern space stocks ready-to-wear by local designers. Delhi Tourism lists the village as a shopping destination in its own right.

What it is good for: seeing many labels, buying off the rail, bridal and couture. What to expect: flagship prices and a store margin on the multi-designer floors.

Meherchand Market: the multi-designer stores

Meherchand Market in Lodhi Colony is the quieter, more polished version of the same idea: a run of multi-designer and lifestyle stores, one stocking western apparel and accessories, another with outfits and accessories from across the country, and design stores that sell clothing alongside homeware. It is the easiest of the four to shop in an hour, and the one to pick if you want a gift and a coffee in the same trip.

The Dastkar Nature Bazaar: the craft groups

At Andheria Modh in Chhatterpur, on the road toward Gurgaon, Dastkar and Delhi Tourism run the Nature Bazaar: a permanent venue where themed bazaars of about twelve days each run through the year, with a line of permanent stalls, Gali-e-Khaas, trading in between. Dastkar started the Nature Bazaar in 1983, after the environmentalist Valmik Thapar suggested promoting natural materials and fibres, and the autumn Dastkar Mela brings craftspeople from more than 22 states. Recent editions have been ticketed at ₹50, open 11am to 8pm.

This is where the cloth itself is cheapest and most direct: weavers, printers and embroiderers selling on their own behalf, and the exhibition labels that build on their work. New craft groups are always given space, so the stalls change edition to edition. Check the Delhi Tourism calendar for the year's bazaars.

How studio labels in Delhi sell

Even in a city with clusters, a large share of boutique labels sell without a shop. They keep a rail at home or in a small unit, open it at their own exhibition a few times a year, and otherwise sell by appointment, on their own site and on WhatsApp, cutting each piece after it is ordered. The pattern is the same in Mumbai. Find them by searching Instagram for the piece you want with the word "exhibition", follow the ones whose cloth you like, and ask for the next date.

Korra Vastrra works this way. We open our rail at exhibitions a few times a year (the last was Exhibition 2.0, 21 to 23 August 2026), sell on this site and on WhatsApp, and make every piece to order in unbleached kora cotton and linen.

What to budget

Everyday cotton and linen from a Delhi studio label costs about ₹3,000 to ₹9,000 a piece in 2026, with hand embroidery at the top of the band. Multi-designer floors in Hauz Khas and Meherchand add roughly 30 to 50 per cent. Bridal and occasion wear in Shahpur Jat starts around ₹25,000 and runs into lakhs. At the Nature Bazaar, handloom saris and block-printed yardage from the makers themselves sit well below studio prices.
